I’m very excited to be starting this blog; it’s something I’ve been thinking about doing for some time. I’ve been interested in history most of my life and genealogy for around 10 years. I now hold a PG Certificate in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies and recently decided to focus on genealogy full time, hence the start of this blog.
The plan is to produce posts that will help family historians make the most of all the information that is available out there; online or in archives as well as articles on DNA testing and heritage travel. There will also be the latest news as well as a history on this day feature.
I’ve lived in the UK most of my life, but have been based in Ontario, Canada for the last 11 years. My own roots are in the British Isles, I have ancestors in Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales, so the focus of many of the posts will be on the UK and Ireland, so they should be of interest to North Americans with roots in these countries.
Thanks for visiting and please let me know if there is anything you would like me to write about.
Good for you starting this blog. I am looking for Welsh genealogy in Gwenedd..Anglesey part. One of my ancestors shot game on an overlord’s land and choose to go to America is what the family said. Last names are Hughes, Salisbury and Williams..so should be fun sorting out…thanks!
Thanks Tom. Good luck with your Welsh research. Family Search has a lot of Welsh records and if you haven’t already done so, be sure to check out the National Library of Wales site https://www.library.wales/index.php?id=1 – they have some interesting free stuff like Welsh newspapers and Tithe maps.
